Attendees:

K0WLY
NV9N
KG0INS
AJ7KY
KM7BYT
KN0JI

On the bench:

  • NV9N (Andrew)
    • Designed, with CLAUDE's help, a 3D printed bracket to mount his new radio. Works with the cupholder in his vehicle.
  • K0WLY (Carl)
    • Mentioned 3D printed a new CW Key, mounted his new antenna and radio in his truck. Also his PCB's came in for his CW Keyer Trainer. Almost ready for release to the public domain.

    • New keyer trainer PCBA

  • AJ7KY (Kyle)
    • Ordered a Johnson radio for 2m CW. There is brand new firmware out that allows you to connect a USB-C connector to a TRS connector. Then you don't need to mod your radio. He built the cable but doesn't have the radio yet to check it out.
    • From his post on our new makernet Slack channel on the UVARC Slack:
I ordered a Quansheng K1 for 2m CW so I can try and join the BKG.

The new release of the CW mod supports using a TRS to USB-C cable instead of doing any internal modifications.

I don't have the radio yet (on its way), but I built the cable today by Frankensteining a couple of dying cables I had lying around. (edited)

    Open Discussion:
    • NV9N - Provided some more details on how he used CLAUDE to create his cup holder radio mount. Claude created the whole file, sent it to his printer and did quality monitoring!
    • KM7BYT - Discussed the PAN Adapter software he is developing. He put some information on the UVARC Slack channel and was looking for additional input.
    • NV9N - Discussion about adding a UVARC Maker Net to Slack for us to share information on. Other places to include were also discussed.

    Smoke Award:

    • KN0JI - Is the proud winner of the "Smoke Award"! He described the bright spark and smoke that came out of a power supply he had provided to the CW shack on Field Day. He had tested it for about two weeks before, but it just didn't hang in there.

    Closed Net:  19:30
